The 7.4.0 release brings with it a number of installation changes that long time Fledermaus users may want to be aware of.  First to be more consistent with other QPS products and company branding the software is stored under a QPS directory. On Windows this will be “C:\Program Files (x86)\QPS\Fledermaus” for the 32 bit version and “C:\Program Files\QPS\Fledermaus” for the 64 bit version.  On Windows the location of the preference files have moved as well. They are are now found in C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\QPS\Fledermaus, or "%localappdata%". Previously preferences were located in C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\IVS.

On Windows when you run Fledermaus to install a license file if you run it with administrator privilege the license will be installed in the licenses directory where the software is installed. However, if you install the license file as a normal user the license will be installed in the C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\QPS\Fledermaus\licenses directory. If you are installing a license for multiple different users on a windows machine make sure you install the license with administrator privilege or copy the license directly into the licenses directory where the software is installed.

Previous versions used an environment variable called IVSHOME7 to tell the system where the software was installed. As of version 7.4.0 this environment variable is no longer used and all configuration files are located based on a relative path from where the executable(s) are located. This makes it possible to better support the installation multiple versions of Fledermaus (or both a 32 and 64bit version) without any potential conflicts.
