Introduction

We're pleased to present Qastor 2.50.2018.05.09.1

What's new in this version

Qastor software is continuously being improved and new features are added. Many of these improvements are not transparent to the user, but have been implemented to create a smoother and faster navigation system. This page includes a summary of the changes made.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get into contact.

  • This release is mainly intended to solve bugs.

  • Previously, the Release Notes could be downloaded just like the various versions of Qastor. Now they can be viewed directly via our website. From there they can be downloaded as well if you need them for offline use.

  • Most documents from the Qastor Knowledge Base as delivered with Qastor have been placed online too and can be viewed without the need to start Qastor.

ROT and Heading filter bypass

In this version of Qastor we made it possible to bypass the ROT and Heading filter. These filters were originally tuned to work well with larger size vessels and certain types of navigation equipment.

During acceleration and deceleration of turns with smaller vessels these filters can cause the ROT and Heading to lag in output so we added the possibility for users to provide more control over this and select between the raw values and filtered values and be able to display both.

These settings can be adjusted in the menu option File - Advanced Settings - Miscellaneous Settings at the bottom of the dialog. Administrator rights are needed to enter this menu.

Only in Rate Of Turn filter "On" mode, using NMEA data as input for Heading and ROT, a "delta Heading" will be used to generate an ROT value.
If the ROT filter is not applied ("Off") a Heading input only will not generate an ROT value, resulting in a straight line prediction.

Qastor Move Web Application Tandem Mooring

If a secondary vessel has been defined in Qastor - Transit Setup an extra page "Tandem" will become available in Qastor Move.

All necessary parameters for FPSO or similar operations are available identical to the Tandem mooring information panel in the Qastor program.

See for more information on how to set up and use this app in the online Qastor Knowledge Base at: How-to Qastor Move Web Application

The Qastor Move IOS app has been withdrawn from the Apple Appstore at the end of February 2018 and is no longer available.
