Qimera Cable/Pipe Tracking Options Dialog

The Cable/Pipe Tracking Options Dialog is used to configure the parameters of the TOP Detection algorithm, and is split in to three main sections: 

  • Slice Options 
    • When processing the entire line, Step Interval represents the Along Track distance between detection attempts
    • Width and Thickness represent the size of the Scroll Selection window in Across Track and Along track coordinates, respectively. 
  • Tracking Window Options
    • Offset Horizontal and Offset Vertical represent the offsets from the center of the tracking window to the origin (0,0) of the swath plot in across-track and depth coordinates, respectively.
    • Width and Height represent the size of the tracking window in across-track and depth coordinates, respectively.
    • When processing the entire line and Auto Recenter Horizontal/Vertical options are checked, the Offset Horizontal and Offset Vertical values will be updated for each detection attempt so that the tracking window is centered over the previous detection.
  • Cable/Pipe Tracker Options
    • Actual Cable/Pipe Diameter refers to the nominal diameter of the cable/pipe, while Tracking Cable/Pipe Diameter refers to the diameter of the circle that the detection algorithm will used to determine the cable/pipe's location. An example of a discrepency between the actual and tracking diameters would be in the following cases
      • The pipe is buried?
      • Pipe has a protective collar
    • Loading a Design Path file allows the user to specify varying pipe diameters as a function of the project KP for the detection algorithm to use.
    • When doing detections with both Multibeam and Pipe Tracker systems enabled, the Preferred Solution specifies which system's detection should be used as the current solution 
    • The Multibeam Solution and Cable/Pipe Tracker Solution options refer to the particular method used to determine the horizontal and vertical positions of a detection. The following options are available:

      Detection methods
      Fixed ValueUsed to detect at the middle of the tracking rectangle.
      ShallowestUsed to detect using the shallowest data point, within the tracking rectangle.
      DeepestUsed to detect using the deepest data point, within the tracking rectangle.
      Mean Sea BedUsed to detect using the mean value of all samples within the tracking rectangle.
      Least SquaresUsed to detect using the least squares method on all samples within the tracking rectangle.
    • The detection attemp will not succeed if the tracking window contains fewer points than specified by the Minimum Hits on Cable/Pipe
    • Spike Limit determines how large a spike can be and still be included in the LSQ calculation.
    • Max Outlier Rejection % is the percentage of points in the estimation window that can be determined to be outliers before the detection attemp fails.
    • The Show Detection Warnings Dialog is optionally shown after performing detections and shows any warnings generated by the detection algorthithm.
